About the Armand Heitz Pommard 1er Rugiens 2022
Armand Heitz Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens 2022 is a brilliantly structured, profoundly expressive, and muscular Premier Cru red Burgundy that showcases the intense minerality and exceptional pedigree of one of Pommard's most revered plots. Sourced from the iron-rich, rocky red soils of the iconic Les Rugiens vineyard, this 100% Pinot Noir reflects winemaking that balances rustic power with modern elegance. In the glass, it presents a deep, vibrant ruby color. The highly complex nose opens with an intense bouquet of wild black cherries, red currants, and crushed stone minerals, seamlessly interwoven with undertones of forest floor, black tea, and refined spices from thoughtful oak integration. On the palate, the wine delivers immense depth and concentration, driving a dense core of crunchy dark berries and ferrous minerality across a framework of chiseled, firm tannins. Balanced perfectly by a vitalizing vein of fresh natural acidity, it expands continuously before culminating in a remarkably long, structured, and youthfully austere finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs brilliantly with herb-crusted roasted rack of lamb, slow-braised duck leg confit, pan-seared wild venison, or rich, earthy mushroom risottos.
