Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2020

Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2020 is an elegant, vibrant, and beautifully perfumed expression of Sangiovese Grosso from one of Montalcino's most historic and revered estates. Pouring a bright ruby-red, this meticulously crafted wine opens with a highly expressive and inviting bouquet of ripe red cherries, dried plum, and crushed Mediterranean herbs, gracefully interwoven with nuances of rose petals, lavender, sweet tobacco, and a hint of iron. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and impeccably balanced. A juicy, fruit-forward core of wild berries and subtle blood orange is elegantly framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins and a lively streak of natural acidity. Maturing in a combination of French and traditional large Slavonian oak casks, it retains an impressive purity of fruit and freshness, driving toward a long, savory, and lightly saline finish that promises excellent longevity in the cellar.

Food Pairing: Pairs magnificently with slow-roasted lamb with rosemary, traditional wild boar ragù over pappardelle, a classic Florentine grilled T-bone steak, or aged Pecorino and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheeses.

A little tight now, with cherry and cedar character on the nose and palate. Plenty of flowers as well. Medium-bodied and crisp, with firm tannins that are all together. There’s energy and brightness to this. Give it two or three years to open. Drink from 2027.
