About the Ardbeg 10 Year Old
Ardbeg 10 Year Old is widely revered as one of the most complex and balanced peated single malts in the world. Produced on the rugged south coast of Islay, this expression is non-chill filtered and matured primarily in ex-bourbon casks to preserve its raw, powerful character. While it is famous for its intense smoky profile, it is uniquely characterized by a delicate sweetness and a citrusy zest that provides a sophisticated counterpoint to the heavy peat. On the nose, it delivers an explosion of briny sea air, smoked fish, and zesty lemon, followed by a palate of oily peat smoke, dark chocolate, and black pepper. The finish is long and triumphant, leaving a lingering trail of toasted marshmallows and drying wood smoke that captures the untamed spirit of the Islay coastline.
