About the Appleton Estate 12 Year Old Rare Casks Rum
Appleton Estate 12 Year Old Rare Casks Rum is a true expression of Jamaican rum craftsmanship, expertly blended by Master Blender Joy Spence. Crafted using limestone-filtered water, this exceptional spirit is a blend of hand-selected pot and column still rums that have been aged for a minimum of twelve years in Jamaica's tropical climate. Pouring a deep bronze with mahogany reflections, it offers an inviting nose of toasted oak, dried fruit, and toasted hazelnut. The palate is rich, luscious, and velvety, unraveling complex notes of dark cocoa, delicate molasses, vibrant orange peel, sweet vanilla, and subtle hints of freshly roasted coffee. The finish is exceptionally long, balancing a pleasant bittersweet oakiness with lingering warmth.
Food Pairing: The deep, roasted notes and rich dried fruit character of this rum make it a phenomenal pairing for dark chocolate desserts, such as a dense flourless chocolate cake, espresso brownies, or sea salt chocolate truffles. For a savory counterpart, it beautifully complements smoked meats, slow-cooked barbecue pork ribs, or a charcuterie board featuring strong, aged cheeses like an extra-aged Gouda or sharp cheddar.
