About the Angels & Cowboys Proprietary Red 2021 750ml
Crimson-rosewood in color and bursting with deep berry fruit the wine opens with juicy briar berry, cassis, and plum and rolls over the palate in waves of tart cherry, fig jam, and grenadine. Earthy dimensions of Syrah and Petite Sirah lend grounding savory elements of pepper and anise, while the abundant fruit notes of Zinfandel and Grenache suggest strawberry and balsamic. This wine tapestry is woven with a continuity of French oak that brings sweet spice, reminiscent of toffee and gingersnap. Medium-firm tannins lend mid-palate structure, and the finish is plush and warm.
Tasting Panel
With a foundation of Zinfandel that sees the addition of Syrah, Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Grenache, this sleek wine exudes ripe aromas of plum that bloom out of the glass. Mocha and boysenberry preserves are buoyant in a plush frame with rounded tannins. A pinch of white pepper and toasted coconut grace the finish.
89 points Wine Spectator
90 points James Suckling
