About the Cusumano Alta Mora Guardiola Etna Rosso 2020
Cusumano Alta Mora Guardiola Etna Rosso 2020 is an elegant, highly aesthetic volcanic red wine crafted from 100% Nerello Mascalese. Sourced from one of the highest and steepest cru sites on Mount Etna at an altitude of up to 1,000 meters, this limited-edition wine comes from ancient vines up to 150 years old that are deeply rooted in mineral-rich lava rock. It displays a transparent ruby color with a brick-red rim, offering a complex, restrained bouquet of sour cherry, dried flowers, orange zest, and thyme, underlined by smoky, wet-stone minerality. On the palate, it is slender and vertically structured, balancing nervy acidity and silky, fine-grained tannins with cool, precise flavors, culminating in a long, salty, and crystal-clear finish that beautifully expresses its pure, uncompromising terroir.

Matches beautifully with grilled lamb chops with rosemary, roasted pork tenderloin, dark poultry dishes, rich white meat ragù, or mildly matured pecorino cheese.

Alta Mora's top-shelf red is the 2020 Etna Rosso Guardiola. This limited release of 3,000 bottles is made with fruit from exceptionally old vines (up to 160 years old) on their own roots in bush-trained vines placed on steep stone terraces at 900 meters in elevation. Guardiola is one of the best-performing growing sites on the volcano, and it always shows an especially polished mineral character. The wine sees 20 days of skin contact during fermentation and ages in large oak casks. This wine has complexity and depth, but ultimately it adheres to the accessible and mid-weight identity of the vintage.
