The nose reveals complex layers of black cherry, wild blackberry, and violet, closely accompanied by profound elements of tar, iron, crushed eucalyptus, and dark baking spice. On the palate, it exhibits exceptional fruit density anchored by muscular, velvety tannins and a striking vein of mineral-driven acidity. The deep, savory texture drives into an extraordinarily long, expansive finish that promises massive longevity.

Dense garnet in the glass, this sample shines for its depth and intensity, with rhubarb, bitter oranges, Mediterranean herbs, Parma violets and cinnamon. The attack is firm, dense and velvety, with a full body, great fruit concentration, graphite minerality and refreshing lifted acidity. It doesn’t come across as over-extracted despite the firm structure intended for the long haul. Best from 2027.

A peppery red, offering notes of both black pepper and peppery greens, with a core of strawberry, cherry and rose. It also clearly shows better oak integration than the other single-vineyard Barolos. Chalk, mint, white pepper, sage, incense and blood orange all race across the palate. Romirasco is a special site. Conterno's 2020 captures the energy here in a style that straddles the modern and the classic
