Fondo Antico Àitho Etna Rosso 2023 is an incredibly elegant and beautifully complex Italian red wine that perfectly mirrors the fascinating volcanic terroir of Mount Etna. Grown on the sun-drenched southeastern slopes at an altitude of 450 meters, it pours a lovely, clear ruby red hue. The nose is highly expressive and inviting, opening with a dominant bouquet of fresh wild strawberries and juicy black cherries, seamlessly layered with exotic oriental spices and a refreshing balsamic undertone. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, and harmonious. It delivers a vibrant core of crisp red fruit supported by fine, silky tannins and an energetic, uplifting acidity. Having spent a careful aging regimen of six months in lightly toasted tonneaux followed by an additional six months in medium-toasted French oak, this pure expression of Nerello Mascalese culminates in a long, polished, and remarkably elegant finish.
