About the Adelphi Selection Akkeshi 3 Year Old 2018 Peated Cask #1004 Japanese Single Malt Whisky
Adelphi Selection Akkeshi 3 Year Old 2018 Peated Cask #1004 Japanese Single Malt Whisky is a rare single-cask release from Akkeshi Distillery in Hokkaido, independently bottled by Adelphi. Distilled in 2018, this peated Japanese single malt spent three years maturing in a first-fill bourbon barrel before being bottled at natural cask strength. Cask #1004 yielded only 265 bottles at 57.7% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring. The whisky combines assertive peat smoke with sweet vanilla, orchard fruit, pepper, barbecue and smoked-meat character.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, grilled pork, barbecue beef, smoked brisket, aged cheddar, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, and grilled mushrooms.
Tasting Notes: Powerful and peated, balancing warming wood smoke with vanilla sweetness, crisp orchard fruit, pepper and savoury barbecue character.
Nose: Warming wood smoke, sweet vanilla and crisp orchard fruits.
Palate: Black and white pepper with barbecue, smoked meat, vanilla sweetness and assertive peat smoke.
Finish: Long and smoky with lingering peat, pepper and savoury barbecue character.
