Fontanafredda has extensive holdings in Serralunga, so perhaps it's not surprising that even the communal blend from here is of high quality. The wine is now aged in barriques as well as large casks. There's a smoky, cooked raspberry tone on the nose, but it's not jammy. Rich and sleek, this is very polished for Serralunga, with a silky texture, a complex and lively presence on the palate, and a fine balance between acidity and ripe tannins. Long.
